What is safer to make a image of a harddrive onto a external or just to do a clone from hardrdive to external? Images get corrupted?? But is cloning from a ide harddrive to a usb2 harddrive safe. thank you

make a iso onto a external. Verus doing straight direct copy. I dunno why wouldnt direct copy be less corruption. I mean your just copying one file to another. with a iso the whole thing get corrupted.

Are you planning on making an ISO of the OS partition? What can you do with the ISO? It can't be restored to another HD so that the OS will boot.

I think cloning your HDD to another drive (doesn't matter its external or not) is safer.  The reason is if your Ghost image file(s) are corrupted you have almost no way to get back any files from the image.  If your cloned drive is bad, you may still have a chance to retrieve some or most data files back by putting this drive into a working computer.
