In response:
Yes, I did have a problem restoring a Ghost 11.5 backup image file, of a Windows 10, C: partition, to a new hard drive. So I used the Windows 10 Install disk to start a new install as far as letting it make all the necessary partitions, then I stopped the install and did my Ghost restore and that worked like a champ.
That install of Win-10, is on a separate HD installed here on my main desktop PC.
I'm using an SSD with Windows 7 Ultimate/32 right now, and I back it up and have done restores to it using my Ghost 11.5 on a CD/FD.
Once a week I also make a Clone of my SSD to a 2TB drive that I also have installed in my Desktop PC.
That's for just in case that the SSD takes a dump. I had a PNY SSD last summer, that did that, and restoring the cloned image of that drive to my new SanDisk SSD saved the day.
Regardless of what little work-arounds I might have to use, I still love Ghost 11.5 (DOS) the best.
Y'all have a great day now, Y'hear?
Cheers Mates!

Such a really GREAT program (Ghost 11.5) and so little interest.
Ghost 11.5 (DOS) will backup any OS from Windows 98 to Windows 10/64.
And it will boot up a PC and run, from any media that you can make bootable.
I have it on CD's, Flash Drives, and even an SD Memory (camera) Card.
It's nice to have my Backup/Restore program on bootable media, when my
main HD has CRASHED, and I need to restore to a new HD.

I'm running Windows 11/Pro/64 today, on a 100% incompatible PC, that is close to a decade old.
It runs just fine, after I burned the ISO to a flash drive, using Rufus 4.0. Rufus removes all the Microsoft Compatibility BS, and just leaves a really nice OS to be installed, and enjoyed.
But, even with the very latest 64 bit OS, I'm still making my weekly backups using Ghost 11.5, on a bootable Flash Drive.
Like forever, Ghost doesn't care what the OS is, or whether it's 32 bit or 64 bit. It just backs up one's and Zero's.
Some day, we'll have Windows 12, and I'm pretty sure that Ghost 11.5 will back that up, too.
Cheers Mates,
Casper

Well, here we are again. Thanksgiving has just passed, and I'm still running Windows 11/Pro/64 on a 100% INcompatible PC.
And I'm still backing it up, every week, using Ghost 11.5 running from a Bootable DOS Flash Drive.
Windows 11 runs GREAT! Ghost runs GREAT! Life is good!
I want to wish y'alls a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!

It's New Year's Eve and I want to wish y'all a very safe and happy 2024.
I'm still running Windows 11/pro/64 and playing around with "Micro 11". A fun little OS!

And still doing my weekly C: drive backups with Ghost 11.5 from Broadcom.
As some things change, other things remain the same.
Cheers Mates,

Windows continues to be updated, and not only by Microshaft.
The newest player in the game is X-Lite:
https://windowsxlite.com
They now offer Windows 11/Pro/64, 24H2, V2.
That's right, Version 2.
They have totally removed all of MS's bloatware, spyware and other BS.
The download ISO is Tiny, and the OS runs FAST. In fact, it's the Fastest Windows I've ever installed.
And, I can also back it up with Ghost 11.5, in the Windows 10 shell, from Broadcom.
Summer is here, in Florida, and today I'm sitting here at 95° while it's a steamy 101° outside.
It's not real comfortable, but it's a lot cheaper than turning on the Air Conditioning.
I hope y'all are able to stay cool where you are.
Blessings all around,
Casper

Interesting, I'll have a look into that X-Lite version!
Early summer here in Sweden but I'm sitting in a light drizzle, reading 15° on the thermometer. Not the same degrees as yours, though ...

Yeah, not the same. I think 15C = 59F. A little on the chilly side. Too cool for a day at the beach!
Still using X-Lite as my OS source. Now running Windows Optimum 11, 24H2, V4.1.
Ver 4.2 is currently available. I have that installed on another Desktop PC.
And, , , Boy! is it ever FAST!
Installed in just 10 minutes too!
As soon as I got it installed and all set up. I made a Ghost Backup, using my DOS Ghost boot Flash Drive and Ghost 11.5.
I've been using Ghost since 1997, and it's still the ONLY backup program I will use. Because it just WORKS, where others may fail.
Cheers Mates!
