Ghost 2003 and SATA drives
May 31st, 2007 at 1:36pm

I have successfully used 2003 to create and reimage systems with IDE devices. Now that I have Dell's with SATA optical drives and hdds, I am no longer able to use my trusty Ghost 2003. I figured if anyone has figured out which SATA drivers, if any, to use my problem would be solved. Keep in mind that I have no floppy drive so I boot to the Ghost 2003 cd...please help!

Until such time as you attain the requisite SATA drivers, consider the technique outlined in the link below:

so I boot from the Ghost 10.0 cd? or do I make a bootable disk from the 10.0 software? I will try soon as you let me know which to do...

Boot directly from the Norton Ghost 10.0 installation CD itself and home in on the phrase 'legacy'.  You can perform Backups, Restores, and Clones in a Windows XP Preinstalled Environment just as if you were in DOS-dependent v2003.

Check out the link below if you really want to get serious about using Norton Ghost Ver 8.2 from a bootable CD:

systek,

EP is correct. From the Ghost 10 Recovery Environment....

Quote:
Recover (on left)
Recover using a legacy Ghost image
OK
Local > Partition > to image   or
Local > Disk > to image

Your system should support being able to boot to DOS and get an A:\ prompt--you might have to change a setting in the BIOS:

Re: Bootable cd without floppy

Once at a DOS prompt, start Ghost with the *-fni* switch--for most, this solves the SATA problem:  ghost.exe -fni

Try building a new bootCD with the /noide switch attached to ghost.exe. It worked for me.
