Simple Machines - Community/Forum software. Calls itself " Elegant. Effective. Powerful. Free." Version 1.0 released 28.dec.2004.
DAEMON Tools - How did I forget this one? Virtual CD/DVD-ROM emulator. Able to emulate nearly all known copy protections on the market today.

ISOBuster - The Ultimate CD and DVD data recovery tool. The best of its kind. Part freeware, part shareware.
The Dangerous Brothers - Patch your DVD drive with region free firmware. One world; One region. Take the time to read the instructions first. The Firmware Page.

Streamripper - Record streaming MP3s (such as those at Shoutcast) to your hard drive. Blogged entry posted here.

PHP - A server-side, cross-platform, HTML embedded scripting language. See here.

MySQL - Worlds most widely used Open Source database.
TopStyle Lite - Free version of the best (Nick Bradbury's style sheet editor.

Wipe & Zap - Two utilities by IBM that will 'wipe' your hard drive clean. They should be only used as a last resort and when nothing else will work. I've never heard of a problem they couldn't resolve. Zap is a little quicker. Wipe is more thorough. I have used Wipe several times (sucessfully). Never used Zap myself. See here for more.

Neotrace Express - Trace route. This one (the free version) has been difficult to find. Thx to Heinz for the link. See here for info on trace-routing. I trace all the time. When you reach the Registration window, you will see 3 buttons, labeled Register, Order and Cancel. Simply click the cancel button and you're good to go.

WordPress - Open source blogging software. I use MovableType, but they have a new licensing scheme which may prevent you from using it free-of-charge. I've heard many good things about WordPress.

CDBufrnerXPPro - CD burning software.
DVDInfoPro - Just like the name says.

Bloodshed Software - Compilers, such as Dev-C++. Cool name. (Thx Joshua)
ieSpell - Third-party plug-in that allows you to spell-check text entered in text-input boxes when using Microsoft's (hugely popular) Internet Explorer web browser. ieSpell is accessed via the drop-down "Tools" menu in IE, or by right-clicking in the text field. Comes in handy. Unobtrusive. I use it regularly.

Kerio Personal Firewall - The boys at Anand's prefer this one.
TechSupportAlert - Their best-ever freeware utilities

Diskeeper 7 Lite - Defragmentation prgm, an older version of regular Diskeeper with less features. Still defrags nicely, tho.
Video Lan Player - Plays all types of media files. Best thing is it can multi-cast through LAN, internet, etc...  Plays media through LAN connection. (Thx Peter)

Cobian Backup - see THIS thread for more info.
