At least you should be able to move that image to your external HD. A round about way to use the external HD I know. Finding a cause for your problem will prove difficult.

Hi,
recently I installed Ghost 10 but was unable to run an image to an external HD, receiving an "Error EC8F17B7"; Google led my to your forum.
However, I would like to make a contribution to your discussion so far.
I failed to make an image to an external HD (Maxtor OneTouch 160Gb) with an USB 1.1 connection from a laptop, but succeeded to make an image to the same drive using a Firewire connection.
Interesting enough the failed image also logged two events created by Windows (XP Pro, SP2), which read:
Event ID 7000:The Norton Ghost service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
and
Event ID7009:Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for the Norton Ghost service to connect.
Who can help me out on this issue; any suggestions more than welcome!
Would the speed slider (new in Ghost 10) make any difference; and if so, set it to slow of fast?

Kind regards,

René

Hi,
I found a solution to MY problem with error E0BB001B.

The reason for getting this error while doing a backup for my local drive C: to an USB external drive with Norton Ghost 10.0 was a change in my boot.ini file on C:\

I installed a program called XP Style, which allows to change the XP start screen into a user designed start screen. This changed the boot section in the file boot.ini on C:\

So I revoked my changes to the original boot.ini and after that the backup with Norton Ghost 10.0 worked again.

Could you let us know the before and after boot.ini?

Is this the prog?

I downloaded the Program styleXP 3.0 from T-Online:

http://www2.oncomputer.t-online.de/dyn/c/35/40/17/3540176.html

This small program allows to change the Windows XP bootscreen to a user designed bootscreen and writes a new bootsection into boot.ini. This works fine but causes the problems with Norton Ghost 10.0

I only have my original boot.ini, reseting the file with styleXP 3.0 to the original one deleted the changed one:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

Hi Oliver,

Just a small clarification, were you able to create a backup to the Local HDD, was that you were unable to create the backup on to the USB Hard Drive.

Thanks in advance
